April favourites and bummers

Hey guys!

Here’s a little preview of what you are up for.

DSCF3771-crop

I’ll start off with the things I loved in April.

SUQQU Repair Essence

DSCF3787

This is a brilliant serum for special occasions. I use it when I have really bad skin—like some acne scarring or if blowing my nose has made it all sore. Apply it before night and in the morning you will definitely see a huge difference. Truly a miracle worker!

Now, this isn’t really a very moisturizing product so some people might feel like it’s far too light for your face, use it before your regular moisturizer.

Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

DSCF3804

I decided to buy this since a lot of beauty bloggers really like it. And I am no different to them since it makes nail polish dry faster and increases its longevity. It also makes the nail polish very shiny.

Although there is a lot of concern over the fact that this top coat has quite toxic ingredients, I didn’t hesitate to buy it since I always polish my nails in a well ventilated area.

Bourjois Flower Perfection Foundation

DSCF3785-crop

I wrote a review about this product a while back and since then I’ve fallen even more in love with it. It’s just a near-perfect combination of longevity, good coverage and great finish. I mean I don’t have to even use powder and it really lasts all day even in a stressful situation (such as a first day at work as a waitress). Though I would maybe opt for a sheerer and foundation for the upcoming summer, I do really recommend this.

Versace Versense

DSCF3793-crop

My mother bought me this for birthday last December and I still adore it. I started to use this on special occasion, since I don’t want to smother myself in perfume every day and usually just smell like washing detergent. This way I keep my love for a perfume and don’t get tired of it with 2 months like I have before.

It’s a really fresh flowery perfume, just like I like all of my perfumes. Quite citrusy even at first and lasts for a long time. Another perk is that it is quite intense so just a drop will be more than enough.

Rexona Linen Dry Ultra Dry Anti-perspirant VS Fa Sport Double Power 72h

DSCF3789-crop

I bought the Fa anti-perspirant since it was on sale and I just thought I’d give it a try even though I’ve never had a good experience with Fa deodorants. They just don’t work on me. I do understand that I perspire quite heavily compared to other people, but I at least expect that I wouldn’t start smelling like sweat in a fitness class with 40 other people in it!

So after that terrible incident I turned to Rexona, since it was on sale as well. And luckily it works quite well. I mean I cannot say it stops me from perspiring completely, but the light and pleasant creamy smell keeps me from wanting to cry due to obnoxious body odour.

My current shampoos- Rich Pure Luxury and Goldwell Kerasilk Shampoo

DSCF3783-crop

I have stopped sharing my love for these. I was really psyched about the Rich shampoo last year but now my scalp has started to reject its moisturising properties and everything else it contains. I do say, it really sucks to have a scalp this sensitive. It’s the same with the Goldwell Kerasilk shampoo-- love at first sight, but once my scalp got to know it properly, it decided to not like it anymore.

Anyhow, I’m on a hunt for a new shampoo and am currently thinking about trying out Frames, I really hope they have samples in the local department store, I don’t want to waste another 10 Euros for something I cannot use…

Hope this helps!

Love,

Janne.

Bourjois Flower Perfection Foundation review

Hi guys!

Bourjois came up with a new base make up line Flower Perfection a few months ago. The line consists of foundation, smoothing base, loose translucent powder and a powder brush.

EOTD 11/11/11: Patriotic Friday

Today is Estonia’s playoff game against Ireland. And because of that, BLUE is the highly suggested colour for today, at least in Estonia. Since I don’t have any blue clothing items (except my jeans) I decided to dress in black and express my patriotism on my eyelids. So here you go, football inspired eyes and a little addition on my chest.

alfajores

           Alfajores de Dulce de Leche

Here’s what you need to make a bit over 20 sandwich cookies.

  • 250ml corn starch
  • 200ml flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 100g butter (room temperature)
  • 150ml sugar
  • 3 egg yolks (if you have large eggs, use 2)
  • 400g can of condensed milk
  • icing sugar
  1. Put the can of condensed milk (the kind with real sugar and milk) into a cooking pot, covered with water. Boil for 2,5-3 hours to make it more solid. Be aware that the water will evaporate so be sure to add water from time to time. Let the can cool.
  2. Sift together corn starch, flour and baking powder.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar. Add egg yolks one at a time.
  4. Add sifted powder ingredients into the butter mixture with an electric mixer.
  5. Preheat oven 180* Celsius.
  6. Roll dough 6mm thick, use a cookie cutter or a cup to make even circles, mind you this dough is quite difficult to operate with, well at least for me. And stick them into the oven. Bake for 10-15 min, until bottoms are golden, yet the top is pale.
  7. Put a teaspoon of condensed milk between the cookies, sift some icing sugar on top and you have a gorgeous super-delicious treat. Don’t make them ahead, as the cookies will get too soft.

Stay cool,

Janne.

And I just applied some lip balm on the lips.

I’m really excited to do eye make up these last couple of days as I recently purchased Ecotools eye shadow brush kit. It’s really amazing and I can’t put them down.

I love that it’s raining right now, the weather announcement promised thunder but sadly enough there is no thunder to be heard or lightning to be seen. I really like the dark and murky weathers when I don’t have to go anywhere, I just sip my cup or earl grey with a splash of milk and eat my biscuits(I’m a true British at heart, lol), perfect day to catch up on my reading and blogging.

Have a nice one!

With love,

Janne.

Ach, filming this vid was a bit of a fail. So for those, who have not seen it on YouTube, I just have to say that the camera died in the middle of the look and I had to recharge it. Christmas look 'n stuff

Hello everybody, so I'm gonna post the first post on this blog. Hmmm..
Anyway I wanted to show you my look for today. I have spent this day with just my bro and mum for as long as I've lived on this Earth, so it doesn't matter what make up I wear or if I have washed my hair. This year I did both and some extra(I also wore nice clothes and did a mani). My brother just put on his good wifebeater for a festive look.
Anyway here's the make up. As you can see, it's unbearably subtle. Just some glittery eyeshadow and liner.

For my face I used Bourjois Fond de teint Princeau brush foundation in Beige clair, Bourjois bronzing powder 76 Soleil Cuivré, Artdeco Camouflage Stick in 7.
For the eyes, I applied L'oreal Paris Quad Pro Doutzen Kroes shade nr 2 all over the lid, then covered it with the glittery shade in the quad. Then I rimmed my eyes with MaxFactor Kohl pencil in Black, smudged it a bit and for a little more dramatic effect, added a thin line of Bourjois Volume Clubbing liner in ultra Black near my eyelashes. I used Bourjois Liner Effect mascara for my lashes and that was it.

And now for the manicure.

The stickers didn't stay very well, so I had to take them off, as the ends started to get stuck in clothes and hair. So the mani was kind of a fail.

And a little extra for people who enjoy cooking. I made a Banoffee Pie, at first I wasn't really sure about the idea, but oh my god was it good. The pie just disappeared, brother ate 3 slices in the first 5 minutes and now, 3 hours later, it has been eaten completely.

For the dough:
4 dl plain flour
250g margarine
4 tbs cold water
2 tbs brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla sugar

For the filling:
1 can (nearly 400g) condensed milk, or Dulce de Leche
3 small ripe bananas

To make the dough, cut the margarine into small cubes, add flour and sugars, knead it until the mixture resembles bread crumbs, then add the water, one tbs at a time, until the mixture forms a nice solid dough ball. Cover with cling film and place in freezer for 30 mins.

It would be so much easier to make the filling with Dulce the Leche, but since there was none in the supermarket, I had to make it myself. You just have to put the tin can (tags removed) into a pot with enough water in it to cover the can and boil it for 2 hours. Allow it to cool, then mix with chopped bananas.

Place the dough into a cake mould, cover with the filling and it takes about 15-20 mins in 200 degrees Celsius.
Some recipes recommend topping it with whipped cream when done.

So that's it for today folks, hope ye enjoyed the first post.
