Hi guys!
Bourjois came up with a new base make up line Flower Perfection a few months ago. The line consists of foundation, smoothing base, loose translucent powder and a powder brush.
What it claims to do: It’s a Youth Extension foundation with Wild Azalea, which is supposed to be a cell youth protector. SPF 15, Smooth, beautified complexion for 16 hours. Matte finish.

I bought the foundation about 2 months ago, you can see how little I have used up in the right bottom corner. I pretty much love this foundation and I’ll tell you why:
- I love the finish. It gives a very nice velvety finish that you can build up to a complete coverage. I like a very light application, I use less than one pump all over my face and sometimes I already feel like that’s a bit too much.
- I love that it’s long-lasting. It claims to last up to 16 hours, I have worn it for over 16 hours and well it doesn’t exactly live up to that claim, but I give it a good 8-10 hours of quite solid wear on my combinational (everywhere from oily to dry during winter) skin type.
- I love that it has a nice and fresh flowery scent that’s not too over-powering.
- I love that the pump allows me to squirt out exactly as much product as I want. I also like that I can see how much product is left, I really hate the packaging that leaves me guessing, especially it the packaging is made put of glass so you cannot tell whither it’s empty by judging its weight.
But there are some cons as well.
- I don’t like that the packaging is so impractical. I mean the lid is just stupid, it’s too tall and takes up a lot of space, really not the one you’d want to carry around.
- I don’t like the enclosed applicator. Mind you I have not used it and I’m not planning to use it, for one simple reason—the shape. How are you supposed to get an “even and thin application” with something that doesn’t even have really sharp edges to get every nick and crack of your face. So basically I consider the enclosed applicator just a publicity stunt, a publicity stunt that makes the whole packaging a joke.
- The product oxidizes quite a bit so please, please, please wait for around 5 minutes for the foundation to settle before you buy it.
To illustrate the finish and the oxidization I give you A PICTURE!
As one might assume, the first one from the left is me without foundation, second one right after I had applied foundation and the third one was done around 10 minutes later.
And the finished look. No powder, just a rosy look with all cream products.
I think that the new line is very different from what other cosmetic companies are aiming for. Many of them are coming up with BB Creams, tinted moisturizers and second skin foundations that are really untraceable, whereas this one is more like the classic foundation with good coverage.
I think the foundation suits best for normal skin type, although it is not too drying nor too oily so it can suit all skin types really. Just if you have very oily skin, keep blotting papers in handy and be sure to use a powder to set it and if you have try skin, moisturize well beforehand and skip the powder as the finish will be velvety anyway.
Do you think you’ll try any of these new products? I think I’d love to give the powder and base a try, as this is Bourjois’ first try at both, I think.
Best wishes,
Janne.
