Harassing my roommate

So my roommate ordered an eyeshadow palette with 120 shades. And wanted me to do some different looks on her.. therefore we decided to have a little beauty-evening, unfortunately I ended up using mainly my own products.. oh well. And as I suck at blogging obviously.. I though that it would be nice to show you guys what we came up with. Meet Kristin!

DSCN0465

This is a look she specifically asked for. She really wanted to see how a thick eyeliner would suit her, combined with light silver eyeshadow.. and I think she looks fierce! haha

DSCN0497

As she really loves when I use neutral/brown shades on her eyes I thought I’d spice it up with some golden shades and created this rather sparkly look.

DSCN0562-horz

Now the last look was her favourite! We’ve never tried a complete dark look on her before and I have no idea why. Cos she simply looked amazing and I kind of forced her to go clubbing so that everyone could see her! haha

Hope you liked our little beauty-evening as much as we did!

Love,
Andra

Bourjois Flower Perfection Foundation review

Hi guys!

Bourjois came up with a new base make up line Flower Perfection a few months ago. The line consists of foundation, smoothing base, loose translucent powder and a powder brush.

Belated NYE look post

Hi guys, hope 2012 has started well.

I really didn’t have any inspiration on my NYE look, because I had forgotten to buy rhinestones. Asked my brother for inspiration, he told me to be inspired by Star Wars, recommended Chewbacca make up. I kindly refused.

NYElook-crop

So I did this slightly bluish grey sparkly smoky eye with false lashes, kept the rest of the face minimal as recommended with such a dramatic eye look. I think that I went crazy enough for me, though I sort of regret not buying the rhinestones and doing the look I had originally planned for weeks.

I think NYE make-up could defy all the rules and limitations we are used to on an every day basis. So this year go dark, bold, sparkly and most importantly crazy! I will have to remind myself this as well.

Maybe you could pick up that I’m not really in the writing zone, so excuse that. I do want to start blogging more often now, but I really lack the energy and it’s so tough for me to write when I’m not in the mood.

EOTD 11/11/11: Patriotic Friday

Today is Estonia’s playoff game against Ireland. And because of that, BLUE is the highly suggested colour for today, at least in Estonia. Since I don’t have any blue clothing items (except my jeans) I decided to dress in black and express my patriotism on my eyelids. So here you go, football inspired eyes and a little addition on my chest.

First e.l.f Haul

So I received my first e.l.f haul before September and without further ado I present to you the products.

e.l.f Studio Blush in Berry

elf-studio-blush-berry-final

I use this basically every day. It’s quite long-lasting and has some shimmer in it, which I don’t really like.

e.l.f Natural Radiance Blusher in Coy

elf-radiant-blush-coy

I don’t really like it because it is so sheer that it’s basically a pink shimmer. Might work for some, but I like my blush to have more pigmentation.

e.l.f Natural Radiance Blusher in Glow

elf-radiance-blush-glow

Same thing with this one, except this is an orange shimmer.

e.l.f Studio Cream Eyeliner in Black

elf-cream-eyeliner-black-final

I’m not in love with this one either, the colour starts to bleed a bit for me and is definitely not waterproof or long-lasting. Brush can be worked with, but is not very precise.

e.l.f Eye Brights eye shadow quad in Luxe

elf-eye-bright-glam

The colours are swatched upon a primer and are pretty good, the lightest shade is the most problematic in terms of pigmentation. The shadow is just so tightly pressed and solid, I had a lot of problem getting any colour on my finger, basically I just scraped the product from the palette. And the design of the palette is just ridiculous, I mean tiny triangles????? Stupid.

e.l.f nail polish in Desert Haze and Light Red

elf-nail-polish-desert-haze-and-light-red

So I should really warn those people, who have not ordered e.l.f nail polishes online. The pictures shown on the homepage are NOTHING like in real life. Light Red seemed like a white based reddish coral from their online shop and as you can see, it’s nothing like the product I was expecting. So definitely google swatches, there are loads of swatches from every colour they offer.

Now for the actual product- they wear quite well, I love Desert Haze on my toes and it would be great to do newspaper manicure with it. And Light Red is just a red, as if I didn’t had one like that before so I was really disappointed in their homepage swatches.

e.l.f Studio Flat Top Powder Brush

Elf-flat-top-powder-brush-final

Now the brush is quite decent, synthetic bristles, very dense and at least mine hasn’t shed a hair.

And I made a look using the quad, I didn’t incorporate the red one because I think it would have been ‘too much’. I have another way for using the red one and I’m sure I will show it to you some day.

elf-luxe-look

And people, who don’t know it, the brown spot on my nose is a mole not a black booger.

Hope you liked it.

With love,

Janne.

Brothers manicure idea+ Egyptian make up

Yesterday I was lacking inspiration for my manicure, so I asked my brother. He has a red phase- he wanted red sunglasses, shorts and today he dyed the tips of his Mohawk red.

And this is what he recommended doing

nails150711

He would have liked the nails to be white and not nude, but I don’t have a decent white nail polish. This is my dominant hand and I didn’t use the French manicure tip stickers or tape so it’s a bit imperfect.

And… My brother knows what a French manicure looks like. He actually said the phrase “French manicure” before I could teach him. I’m so proud, he really can bring tears to my eyes some times.

And today I submitted my look for Make Up Geeks Weekly Make Up Challenge. It’s all about Egypt.

At first I had this basic Egyptian eye in mind.

algnecleo

But that’s waaaaaay too plain, right?

So I added some details.

cleoeyecut

cleoface

Pretty cool, in my opinion. I like to take part in those challenges, otherwise there is no progress and even if I do experiment, I won’t do it as a look, I  make a smoky black and green combo on one lid and a purple mess on the other. So I can’t wait for the next challenge.

And today, I played with oil paint. I mixed it with linseed oil as recommended and it was like painting with a dream. I hope I will finish this project soon, I have put it off for almost a year now and I really want to show it to you guys.

Bye for now,

Janne.

FOTD 11/07/11 and the best cookies ever

Well hello, lovelies!

Here is my face of the day.

fotd110711

Products used:

Face

  • Oriflame beauty Skin Perfect foundation in Natural Beige
  • Grimas Fixing Powder
  • BeYu blusher 115
  • Bourjois Delice de Soleil in nr 14 Olive/ Tanned skin

Eyes

  • GOSH waterproof eye shadow base
  • Rimmel London Glam’ Eyes quad eye shadow in 002 Smokey Brun (move over Loreal Paris Quad Pro in 303 Beige Taupe! The Rimmel quad is really worth buying!)
  • Pierre René Precision Ink Eyeliner in Black
  • L’oreal Volume Million Lashes Waterproof in Black
  • Manhattan Eyebrow pencil in 99W

Lips

  • L’oreal Paris Glam Shine 6h Volumizer in 003 Pure Addict

And that’s it for the FOTD. Now for the cookies. Someone tried them and you should have seen his face when he tasted them. Hah, to die for. He was super impressed that something could taste this good.

alfajores

           Alfajores de Dulce de Leche

Here’s what you need to make a bit over 20 sandwich cookies.

  • 250ml corn starch
  • 200ml flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 100g butter (room temperature)
  • 150ml sugar
  • 3 egg yolks (if you have large eggs, use 2)
  • 400g can of condensed milk
  • icing sugar
  1. Put the can of condensed milk (the kind with real sugar and milk) into a cooking pot, covered with water. Boil for 2,5-3 hours to make it more solid. Be aware that the water will evaporate so be sure to add water from time to time. Let the can cool.
  2. Sift together corn starch, flour and baking powder.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar. Add egg yolks one at a time.
  4. Add sifted powder ingredients into the butter mixture with an electric mixer.
  5. Preheat oven 180* Celsius.
  6. Roll dough 6mm thick, use a cookie cutter or a cup to make even circles, mind you this dough is quite difficult to operate with, well at least for me. And stick them into the oven. Bake for 10-15 min, until bottoms are golden, yet the top is pale.
  7. Put a teaspoon of condensed milk between the cookies, sift some icing sugar on top and you have a gorgeous super-delicious treat. Don’t make them ahead, as the cookies will get too soft.

Stay cool,

Janne.

eyeshadow160611SAM_0970

And I just applied some lip balm on the lips.

I’m really excited to do eye make up these last couple of days as I recently purchased Ecotools eye shadow brush kit. It’s really amazing and I can’t put them down.

I love that it’s raining right now, the weather announcement promised thunder but sadly enough there is no thunder to be heard or lightning to be seen. I really like the dark and murky weathers when I don’t have to go anywhere, I just sip my cup or earl grey with a splash of milk and eat my biscuits(I’m a true British at heart, lol), perfect day to catch up on my reading and blogging.

Have a nice one!

With love,

Janne.

Looks for 2 make up contests

I did 2 looks for different make up contests. I failed to apply for the first one because I did the look 30. January, thought I could post it the next day to make the deadline, but had issues with the computer, so I couldn't even apply. Anyway it was a Winter/ New Years look. I chose winter and here's the look.

I didn't have my sparkly blue pigment or the palet from the previous post when I made this look, so I must say that it should have been brighter. I also tried to use the blue eyeshadow as a blush, but as you can see it doesnät show very well. I applied several layers, but I guess the shadow played a role in that aswell.

For the second contest, I chose spring (you could choose from 4 seasons). I must say, I was pretty satisfied with the result, as I apply false eyelashes very rarely and I used real petals for this look. I did the whole face and eyes and then as the last step, applied the petals, so if I failed, I would have been obliged to do the eyes again and pretty much screwed up the look. I kinda felt like the look was incomplete, so I added some ornaments.

Shopping spree!

Hello! Sorry for not posting in a while, but i'm making it up with a longer post. So I got my paycheck for January already and had to spend it! I only needed a foundation, but ended up with.. more.
Firstly, the much needed foundation. I purchased the Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation that claims to be sweat, heat and humidity proof for up to 25! hours. The longlasting factor was one of my concerns- long lasting usually also means that it can be a bit too dry. I really didn't have anything in mind when I went to the drugstore. The shopping assistant just explained that it was the newest one there. Foundation for me just means that it conceals minor skin defects, evens out the color and uhm thats it. I would also prefer a dewy finish. So when purchasing it I didn't really care what I ended up with as long as it didn't clog my pores. This has a mineral complex and moisturizing Aqua primer in it. Hmm. Anyway, here's the pic

So this set my back about 8,35 Euros. Cheap.

The second thing which I needed was a cleansing lotion. I opted for one from a pharmacy because those tend to be more effective and don't dry as much. I've got kind of a dry skin but still pimples and blackheads do happen. this was 8,31 Euros.

So the third thing was not so important, but still. My school bag zipper has been on the fritz for some time already and today it decided to work even worse. I had to shop while my bag was fully open. Firstly, this is oh so suspicious and secondly, as I wore it over the shoulder, so that it rests on the back, someone could take my wallet, phone or my precious, precious textbooks. So I decided to buy a new bag. I got a light brown one, it looks cool, is friggin huge and very practical. I kinda wasn't sure about the purchase as all of my boots are black and light brown and black is surely not a "safe" combo. This was super cheap for a bag and cost just under 10 Eur.

But alas! the discounts were so tempting that I had to stop and check out the discount make up. Soo I ended up with a Wet and Wild Powder Foundation, Wet and Wild Mega Eyes eyeshadow trio in Aqua Marine and Beautyuk Eya Dust in 1. They were really cheap. I mean the powder cost 2 Euros, the eyeshadow 1 Eur and the eye dust 0,96 Eur.

As you can see I taped most of the holes from which the powder comes out, otherwise the whole place would be covered in it.

So here are the swatches.

And as I purchased the powder, I realised I didn't have a powder brush, well I had a Kabuki one, but I used that for my blush. So instead of buying a powder blush I bought a blush one. My first good quality brush. An Artdeco one. Natural bristles, soft, soft, soft and the best thing about it.. It liberates product evenly. I got a 5% off, it cost me 6,37 Eur. I was a little bit disappointed in it because I was expecting for the brush to be a bit slanted like usually blush bristles are, but the straight end is good aswell.

All in all a pretty good Tuesday I'd say. I also did a look with all of the products I purchased. Here it is.

The eyeshadows are very pretty, the brown one has a cool greenish undertone so perfect for a little more special than an au naturel, but still very wearable. So welcome home lovely make up, mommy loves you very much.

So wishing all of you a nice Tuesday.
Janne.

Coming up: Review for Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hours
