L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Nail Polish

I won 4  L'Oreal new nail polishes during the summer and I guess it’s time to tell you how I felt about them. I should tell you in advance that I usually wear nudes, classic reds or murky colours, but I just wanted to test these and give you an overall review.

l'oreal-nail-polish1

207 Babydoll

Babydoll is a pearlescent baby pink. Not really a colour I’d wear normally,m which is why I used it on my toes. Someone commented that my toes were “glowing”, which was a bit weird.

l'oreal-nailpolish2

303 Lush Tangerine

Lush Tangerine is a really bright orange. I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I did, the quirky brightness really grew on me!

l'oreal-nailpolish3

213 Sassy Pink

Sassy Pink is a bright fuchsia. Again, I was not sold on this, nor am I now, but it seemed a bit more complex to me than the usual fuchsia, having a little more blue in it.

l'oreal-nailpolish4

205 Rose Bagatelle

Rose Bagatelle, a nude dusty pink, was right up my alley. Perfect for work without being overly boring.

Overview

I think that the new L'Oreal polishes are pretty nice – they have a great variety of colours, quite nice to apply. Most are opaque in 2 layers and they wear around 3 days without chipping, which is quite usual on me. The only downside I see is that they cost quite a bit for the amount you get. The bottles contain 5ml of product, which is great for a shade you think you won’t wear every day, but I suggest you finding another brand for your ultimate favourite polish if you mind buying a new bottle every 6-7 applications or so.

Estonian Independence Day manicure ideas

Anyhow, sorry for posting this this late, but I couldn’t stop browsing 9GAG. You know it, I know it, let’s face it, it’s really-really addictive.

I came up with a handful of ideas (pun totally intended).

vabariigiaastaka-mani

I decided to go for the second look. Sadly, I screwed it up, I would have done a tutorial for it, but well, you know.

NOTD 30/01/2012

Hey y’all!

Here’s a little nail post for you.

chanel-le-vernis-quartz1

Meet Chanel Nail Colour in 525 Quartz.

A favourite of mine, most probably because it is Chanel. But it’s still a pretty awesome colour, looks like an ordinary minky shade but has some bluish pearl to it. Doesn’t really boast with excellent staying power or super easy application (more like the opposite), requires 3 thin layers to look flawless.

Ok, and now to tell you the truth I am very tired and will go to sleep. I just really wanted to post something because I feel like I’ve really been neglecting this blog.

Have a great week!

NOTD 28/11/2011

Hey guys!

So these are my nails for today.pupa-nail-polish-706

I used one of my all time favourites PUPA Lasting Color Glossy Nail Polish in 706.

Black base with olive, golden and copper flecks in it. Not a regular glitter polish so it’s fairly easy to remove, opaque in 1! layer and lasts quite long (up to 6 days or so, but only it you use more than 1 layer and base+ top coat) pretty thick when it comes to consistency and… what else was I supposed to say??

Anyway, the only downer is that it costs 5 Euros for a 5ml bottle. Though, you might get away with only one layer… And the colour is pretty unique.

And I just wanted to show you what my mother bought me for First Advent

DSCF1874

Yup, Barbie Advent calendar. I’m turning 18 in 2(!!!!!) weeks, she also brought a regular Santa one for my 20-year old brother.

Now I’m figuring out what to do next for you guys. I’m sick as the unmentionable but the fever is making me sort of hyper so I guess I’m sort of on a roll. And that’s without music!

OK, I’m over and out for now.

Love,

Janne.

Nails Of The Day 15.10.2011

So, I’m pretty sure a lot of my readers know that I won Lisa Eldridge’s giveaway. As a part of this giveaway, she sent me my first parcel. And in that little postal envelope lied little treasures I could have never imagined to be able to afford myself. So here is a nail polish I received.

DSCF0817

Chanel Peridot as you can see. It is absolutely a-m-a-z-i-n-g! I have seriously gotten more compliments and comments with this polish than with any other nail polish I have ever worn. It is very pigmented and dries quickly, wears rather long as well.

Having quite a nail polish obsession, I had been enviously eyeing pictures of Peridot since it came out and I really cannot believe that I actually own one and it was just wonderful of Lisa to include this.

I will make a post about the other goodies I got sometime soon.

With love,

Janne.

Nails of the day 28/09/11

I purchased a nail polish from the China Glaze Metro collection. I don’t really think that it is a fabulous collection, nothing THAT special, but still very nice autumnal colours. My first choice was Westside Warrior, which is a very beautiful creamy olive green. I also liked Midtown Magic ( a really dark, almost black purple with golden and bronze glitter) and Concrete Catwalk (dark, a bit bluish grey).

And here is Westside Warrior, just to survive the urban jungle.

ChinaGlaze-WestsideWarrior

Excuse the shadow…

I used China Glaze First&Last as base and top coat.

And that’s it for today, stay tuned for more deliciousness tomorrow (I hope I have enough time).

With love,

Janne.

Newspaper nails

newspapernails

So I tried to do newspaper nails a couple of days ago and this is my result.

And here’s what I used:

  • Sally Hansen nailgrowth miracle as base and top coat
  • Maybelline Mini Colorama nail polish in Peach Pie
  • pieces of newspaper where the printed text was closer together. (Glossy magazines will not do the trick)
  • vodka
  • a small cup or bowl to dip your finger in. A shot glass will be very good.

What you need to do:

  1. Cover nails with base coat, apply light nail polish that isn’t shimmery, iridescent, or glittery until it reaches the opaqueness you desire. As you can see my nail polish wasn’t completely opaque but I tried to make it opaque, 3 layers of nail polish is on the above pictures.
  2. Pour some vodka into the shot glass and dip your finger in it. Make sure the nail is completely covered in it and place a small piece on newspaper onto your nail. Press the newspaper on your nail, apply pressure and make sure the newspaper does not shift as it will ruin the text. Remove newspaper piece from nail.
  3. Wait until nails have dried off, the alcohol will evaporate by itself after some time. Cover with top coat.
  4. Enjoy!

I quite liked them, very simple to make and you don’t have to buy a lot of stuff to make it. I had everything I needed at home already.

And the best part- it’s not a pain to remove. Usually if I want to do something special on my nails, I use some nail stickers or glittery polish and I always feel like I’m doing a great deal of damage on my nails when I remove them...

And a sad side note.. I had to give the camera I was using back to my mothers boss. So I don’t have a decent camera right now, sucks. So I don’t know what will become of my blogging as no one wants low-quality pictures or posts without pictures and no videos as well.

Take care.

Moon Manicure and my favourite base/top coat

nails030811-final

It came out kind of Christmas-y, but oh well..

moonstickers

I would really like to get my hands on the real moon manicure stickers.

Which, as you can see are in the shape of perfect circles.

What I did luckily manage to get my hands on a golden nail polish. It’s from Rimmel London and it’s called 525 Gold’n Rock. It was 4 Euros and has a domed brush which helps with the application, but the application is by no means 1 second long, that’s just marketing BS.

Now on to my favourite top/base coat,

It is Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle, now I had this nearly 2 years ago, but didn’t repurchase simply because I lacked the means, it has quite a hefty price tag of 12 Euros. Makes the manicure very long-lasting, has a high-shine finish and makes nails very strong. I’ve had the longest natural nails with this polish, a definite A+ from me.

Hope everyone is well.

With love,

Janne.

M&Buffalo green suede nail polish

You might have noticed that Manhattan made a collaboration with Buffalo. I noticed a great nail polish that differs from every other nail polish I own, so I bought it.

manhattanandbuffalogreen

And I discovered that it doesn’t really have a name on it’s bottle. So I call it suede green.

Becomes opaque with 2 layers. Completely chip-free for 2 days, well for me at leastKurb naerunägu. I also used my Essie fastest drying top coat.

I really wanted to see how it looked with my Attitude X nail polish in 2217 Tropical Waters, which is a great colour but doesn’t become opaque even with 4 layers. Can be worn on it’s own only with really short nails as the nail white will not show then.

nails280711

So this is the outcome, a bit more summery than the suede green, not quite sure I’m feelin’ it.

I’m kind of craving dark/murky nail polishes at the moment.

I have to say, I’ve been really enjoying the weather right now… There have been ferocious thunder storms on and off for 3 days. Maybe ferocious is a bit exaggerated, but still.. thunderstorms, heavy rainfalls. Now I just wish I lived in a penthouse to be able to watch the amazingness.

Nails 21/7/11

I have found the most gorgeous nail polish. Think black base and ruby glitter, that’s China Glaze Lubu Heels for ya!

chinaglazelubuheels

Now it will be perfectly opaque in 3 layers. And you will have to apply top coat, as it will shine a lot more that way, it’s a bit too bland without it and sadly it doesn’t last very long. I could wear it for 2 days with a base and top coat (I have 0 tolerance for chipping). Not good, but since I love it so, I have to re-apply it.

And since it has glitter in it, it is shit to remove it.

Not the most summery shade, but I adore it.

Fits perfectly with my nude toenails. Nude toenails for the win, seriously. I love it, I never want to go back.

And while browsing the Net, I found another China Glaze nail polish that is calling my name.

It is from China Glaze Metro collection, which is China Glazes collection for Fall 2011, contains 12 gorgeous colours. My love was Midtown Magic, pretty similar to Lubu Heels in concept. This fall I’m going to rock darker nail polishes.

Brothers manicure idea+ Egyptian make up

Yesterday I was lacking inspiration for my manicure, so I asked my brother. He has a red phase- he wanted red sunglasses, shorts and today he dyed the tips of his Mohawk red.

And this is what he recommended doing

nails150711

He would have liked the nails to be white and not nude, but I don’t have a decent white nail polish. This is my dominant hand and I didn’t use the French manicure tip stickers or tape so it’s a bit imperfect.

And… My brother knows what a French manicure looks like. He actually said the phrase “French manicure” before I could teach him. I’m so proud, he really can bring tears to my eyes some times.

And today I submitted my look for Make Up Geeks Weekly Make Up Challenge. It’s all about Egypt.

At first I had this basic Egyptian eye in mind.

algnecleo

But that’s waaaaaay too plain, right?

So I added some details.

cleoeyecut

cleoface

Pretty cool, in my opinion. I like to take part in those challenges, otherwise there is no progress and even if I do experiment, I won’t do it as a look, I  make a smoky black and green combo on one lid and a purple mess on the other. So I can’t wait for the next challenge.

And today, I played with oil paint. I mixed it with linseed oil as recommended and it was like painting with a dream. I hope I will finish this project soon, I have put it off for almost a year now and I really want to show it to you guys.

Bye for now,

Janne.

Hair & nails

Since I don’t have any access to beauty stores and I’m very lazy, I haven’t posted anything for a while. So that’s why I decided to show you my current nails and hairdo. Nothing special, so don’t get excited.

P7130022

This is MIYO Grape and I LOVE THAT NAIL POLISH WITH ALL MY HEART. No but seriously, I just had to share this with you. In my opinion, it looks perfect when you have nails like I do atm. Oh and did I already mention that I really love this nail polish?

P7130013 P7130025

Now about the hair. I’m not really into braids and stuff. I usually just wash my hair, comb them and I’m ready to roll. But today I found this little pink machine. It was a gift from my granny a really long time ago. And I decided to try it finally. So there we have it, A BRAID. And since my bangs are shorter, I later used some bobby pins to control them and for a while I had a pretty decent hairdo. Was fun, hehe.

Love,
Andra

China Glaze, I love you so.

Crackles have been so big during the last year and I must say, I really like them. Though I am over the honeymoon phase and I have started nit-picking. Allow me to be more specific- I like crackle, I’m just over the black crackle.

And when a shop assistant at a local hair salon told me they will receive crackle/shatter polishes and told me they’ll be receiving black ones, I was really disappointed. Pretty much every bigger nail polish brand has got a crackle polish. Hell, they are even available in Pärnu and from several brands as well.

I need GOLDEN crackles. Not golden under black shatter, golden scatter!!

And of course I have googled my arse off to find one that was golden and available in Estonia. And I have not found a thing.

They do have a great one at Boots by 17.

crackletopcoat_gold17

And Sally Hansen has one as well.

Sally Hansen Crackle

I’m pretty sure there are more brands that have golden crackles but the one from 17 was the first one I discovered and craved and I discovered the Sally Hansen one yesterday. There’s even a slight possibility that the Sally Hansen ones might become available in Estonia at some point.

But there is hope still as I found out that China Glaze released their metal crackle collection.

Two words: I WANNA! Wanna might not be a word for grammar freaks but it is a word in my book.

crackle-glaze-metals-swatches1

I would really-really-really like to own the light blue one called Oxidized Aqua and the golden one (duh!) called Tarnished Gold.

Another things I would sell my soul for (yes, my soul is that cheap, give me a ring if you are interested).

Stay amazing, girlies!

XO, Janne.

30 Seconds To Mars nails

No, nothing pretty or shiny on girlish coming up this time. Not today.
As I’m heading to the rock concert to see 30 Seconds To Mars in 4 days, but I have to leave home tomorrow, I decided that I have to do my nails before all that crazyness.
So I decided to draw the 30STM Triad on my nails. For those who doesn’t know what I’m talking about I have picture:

large-msg-125660400232

Looks simple, right? Well.. after two hours of drawing and then removing everything again I found out that I really-really need a ruler to draw straight lines.
Anyway, I still managed to finally do my nails. I can’t say I’m completely satisfied with them, but oh well. I just hope that I don’t have to do this again before the concert.

P6170121

So this is it. You’re really lucky that you can’t see my right hand. Believe me, it’s worse. Ignore the fact that I have some cleaning up to do.

Here’s what I used: Manhattan Quick Dry in 11A, somekind of nail art Ados black polish, Essie good to go! top coat.

Anyone going to see 30STM on Tuesday? Well.. I’m super-excited!

Sparkle explosion nail tutorial + quick fix for feet

Instead of studying for my Math exam, I decided to make a quick nail tutorial. This is really easy and you probably have everything to make this tutorial already.

Now as your first step apply base coat (optional) and polish your nails with your favourite nail polish. Make it completely opaque, as you will be able to see the streaks.

explosiontut1

After that use a darker tone to draw random lines along the edges of your nails like this.

explosiontut2

Now I added a dark blue tone to give it some more dimension, you can omit this if you want to.

explosiontut3

And then I used a silver sparkle nail polish. This may be your last step.

explosiontut4

But I wanted to make it a bit more special, so I glued rhinestones on my nails. Adding rhinestones certainly doesn’t lengthen the longevity of this manicure, as they come off pretty easily and rip off nail polish under it. I used Depend Nail Glue and after 24 hours 3 rhinestones were missing. Try to add rhinestones after you have washed your hair, because that rips the stones off.

And this picture was taken after using Essie Fastest Drying Top Coat. Super shiny!!

explosiontut7.1

And the products I used

explosiontutproducts

This is so easy that you will have a hard time to screw up your dominant hand. I’m strongly right-handed and my left hand was pretty decent.

And now for the feet.

My feet were in a really bad state- tired, dry, covered in blisters( yes, I wore my Nazi shoes again). So they really needed a quick pick-me-up.

I did a foot soak with sea salt and added a bit of olive oil. I soaked my feet for a couple of minutes, used a pumice stone to remove some harder skin. Soaked my feet for another couple of minutes and just dried them off. No need to add any cream, just pop on a pair of cotton socks and if you can, sleep with your socks on.

This made my weary feet pretty amazing, just give it a try and tell me what you think.

With love,

Janne.

Nails and excuses

So I’m going to start with excuses. I’m really sorry for not posting any meaningful and fun posts lately. Believe me, I have a LOT of ideas but I lack of time currently, so just to show you that I am alive and still want to show you something beauty-related, I’m going to show you my current manicure.

I got my hair done today and while I was in the salon, I spotted some pretty neat sail polishes.

I saw some Mereneid (an Estonian company) nail polishes there and was quite surprised how affordable they were and I have never used them, but I was very tempted to buy them. But I sadly they didn’t have any really special nail polishes, just the most classic red, pink, white and a darker glittery polish I wasn’t interested in. So I purchased Attitude X nail polish in Lemon Sherbet this was 3,2 Euros in Ki Stuudio.

The Mereneid top and base coats were around 2 Euros and nail varnishes were 2,6 Euros and they were huge, I mean 15 ml bottles.

kuuned180511

This pic isn’t the greatest but I think it shows the colour more truly. I was actually expecting it to be a bit more golden as I don’t really like yellow.. And this truly is a yellow, yellow as lemon sherbet or midday sun so I don’t know what I was thinking. It became completely opaque with 3 layers, though with 2 layers it is quite wearable as well.

And here’s what I used:

Attitude X in Lemon Sherbet

Artdeco Nail Wonder- I recommend this product, it can be used as a base and top coat, I used it just as the base this time

Essie good to go! the fastest drying top coat- I just bought this and don’t have a complete verdict yet, but it does provide a great high shine finish.

Hope you are well!

Love,

Janne-Marii

Ornithologists dream

When my cousin Elise (who is studying ecology) saw my mani, she said they looked like seagull eggs. I googled it and here they are..

Seagull eggs vs my mani

seagull eggsarnitologistsdreams

This screams for a punch line I currently can’t come up with..

And here’s what I used

base and topcoat Artdeco nail wonder

the white- Carlo di Roma pure nailpolish ( Selver’s Uhuu? sale sth like 1 Euro)

the black glitter- Gio de Giovanni in 129 (Selver and cost me 1 Euro)

Looks like just my kind of freaky, I’m totally in love with this combination.

Have a nice Mothers Day moms and future moms!!

Nails

I have to be honest with you guys. I haven’t paid much attention to my nails recently.. which isn’t like me. Chipped nail polish has been my friend and that’s a big NONONONO! So, I pulled myself together and finally did my nails.. properly. Wanna see?

make-up 004

So the used products are:

  • Wild and Crazy w191 Super Star
  • O.P.I Black Shatter

As simple as that. Plus totally awesome in my opinion. Both polishes should last at least a week.. so that is just amazing.

Sweet dreams!

March wishlist and nails

It's weird how fast time flies. It feels like I just wrote the review for the Rimmel foundation but it has been a month already..
So I'm gonna post my current wishlist.
1) Manhattan Clearface Fruit Scrub- I had a mini version of this, don't really remember how it worked, but I kind of have a feeling that I should puchase this, haha. I am hoping that it clears out some of the comedones on my nose and it seems only logical that it gets deeper into the pores than regular scrubs.
2) Something from Arnaud, their products have been very tempting. And as I'm running low on facial toner, I'm thinking about buying one for oily skin. Though the Sebamed one I have right now is quite good, it seemed to help at first, but sadly I'm breaking out for over a week right now and I'm freaking out about it.
3) Manhattan Mat Lipcream Lipgloss or some other matte nude-ish lipgloss or lipstick. I don't wear lipglosses or sth like that normally, but I'm thinking about changing that. Though lip stains may be even better, as I am not interested in reapplying every 2 hours or so..
4) Goldwell Dualsense shampoo for sensitive scalp or Cutrin Bio+ Active Shampoo with Cutrin Bio+ Active Serum. The serum is leave in and you can even apply it on dry scalp. I'm constantly having issues with my scalp, no shampoo has been working for me lately and the shampoos that did like 3 months ago, don't anymore. It's really annoying and getting hold of a new shampoo that works is really costly. I mean the last shampoo that worked for me was like 1,25€, super cheap.

And now for the nails. It's a really cool colour. I love that it's not flashy and bright but at the same time it has attitude. And the Teeez! nail varnish in Sexy 03, lasts quite long. I also wear Artdeco Nail Wonder as a base and on top of it, but it lasts for like 4 days or so. The first application wasn't that great as it kind of got bubbly on my nails for several times, I must have shaked it too much. And it has a thick consistency so you must be swift. It cost 5,05€, if I recall correctly. It's available in Rosalind in Estonia and there are some 20? shades to choose from. There was this cute ruby with fine glitter and a really nude colour as well, I think those were the only ones that really stood out from the rest of the bunch.
